Lantern Lane Farm Counseling exists to provide hope, safety, and transformation for anyone seeking emotional, relational, or spiritual renewal. Since our founding, we’ve helped thousands of individuals, couples, and families find peace and strength in the middle of life’s hardest seasons.

Why We Exist

Life can be overwhelming, and too many people struggle without the resources or support they need. From the very beginning, our mission has been to ensure that no one is turned away because of financial barriers. Through generous community support, a dedicated team of licensed therapists and interns, and a commitment to accessible care, Lantern Lane Farm makes counseling possible for anyone in need.

Our Roots

Lantern Lane Farm was founded in the early 2000s by Ralph and Joni Cook, after their own family experienced the life-changing power of counseling. They envisioned a place where therapy didn’t feel clinical or intimidating, but instead peaceful, safe, and connected to nature.

The name “Lantern Lane” was chosen as a symbol of guidance and safety—echoing the lanterns of the Underground Railroad that once lit the way to freedom. Just as those lanterns offered hope in the darkness, Lantern Lane Farm exists to shine a light for those searching for healing and restoration.

Stories That Shape Us

In 2010, Elijah’s Place at Lantern Lane Farm was created in memory of the Green family’s infant son, Elijah. What began as their personal grief journey became a ministry of comfort and support for others walking through loss. Elijah’s Place continues to offer hope and healing to families who need a safe place to grieve and rebuild.

Growing to Serve More People

Lantern Lane Farm became a nonprofit in 2008, and over the years has expanded through the support of donors, churches, and community partners. Today, we serve clients across Middle Tennessee at multiple locations, offering a range of services from traditional talk therapy to experiential approaches like equine-assisted therapy.

Thanks to ongoing community support, we’ve been able to:

  • Offer sliding-scale fees so no one is turned away

  • Expand our internship program to train future counselors

  • Build new facilities, including outdoor pavilions and a greenhouse, to provide safe, creative spaces for therapy

  • Broaden our equine and adventure therapy programs so clients can heal in hands-on, life-giving ways

Looking Ahead

We believe every person deserves access to compassionate, professional counseling. With your partnership, Lantern Lane Farm Counseling will continue to be a beacon of hope—helping individuals and families heal, grow, and thrive for generations to come.
