Chris Richardson
Chris has been involved in non-profit and public service work for more than 12 years as a mental health case manager, an eligibility counselor, a DCS family service worker, a code inspector/official, a praise and worship leader, and now a counseling intern pursuing an Ed.S. in Professional Counseling at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Chris has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in public service management. He loves to work with adults and children in individual sessions spanning from symptoms of depression and anxiety to spiritual and existential crises.
As it pertains to working with adults, Chris has spent much of his life studying behavior as well as various internal working theories of the soul through reading scripture, formal education, personal/professional experience, and through writings from existential philosophers and prolific Christian authors. Chris pulls from several theoretical approaches including, but not limited to, psychodynamic, CBT, person-centered, gestalt, and choice theory/reality therapy. Regarding working with children, Chris has the skillset of seeing the world through the lens of a child at all phases of development, which he uses in conjunction with Adlerian play therapy concepts to reach kid clients. Chris’ primary mission is to create a safe space for clients that will empower them to grow and thrive holistically. Outside of professional pursuits, Chris likes spending time with his family, playing music, writing songs, and reading books that challenge his beliefs and philosophies.
